Health Sites Benefit From Backlinks

July 31, 2009 - 8:44 am Comments Off

The great thing about the internet is that it makes so much knowledge publicly obtainable. If you need information on wellness issues, all you must do is search Google or Yahoo. Unfortunately, there is no so much knowledge available online that particular websites can be difficult to find. If you are a webmaster who owns a good health tips website like this one, then the only way that people are going to find your site is if it ranks well in the search engines. This means that you need to get backlinks, as many as possible. Fortunately, there are some very good services that will help you do this. Check out this backlink network to learn about a very easy way to move your health website up the search engine rankings.

What is more just: rationing health care based upon bureaucratic decisions or ability to pay?

July 30, 2009 - 1:25 pm 2 Comments

Both socialzed and free market health care ration health care.

In socialized health care, care is rationed based upon bureaucratic decisions.
In "free market" health care, care is rationed based upon the ability of the person to pay.

Which is more just?
Which is more just for a child?

Depends on the perspective. The "socialized" (please use in quotation marks) perspective is that users of health care are the community as a whole; thus, ‘just’ is defined as minimizing the losing individuals. "Free market’s" views are that the users are individuals or groups of individuals; thus, ‘just’ is defined as maximizing the number of individuals ‘satisfied.’

From both common political and ethical perspective, a child is often unable to contribute to the discussion of ‘individuals to be lost’ in "socialized health care" or ‘user satisfaction’ in the "free market." Given the assumptions that pediatric care is satisfactory for most children, "socialized health care" is more just because the intrinsic cost-of-life-saved would then be higher even though some children would fall through the cracks. HOWEVER, given the assumption above and also that the income difference between the richest and poorest people is minimal, the "free market" is more just because parents can decide what is most ‘satisfactory’ without too much undue financial burden.

How do you deal with a colleague with halitosis?

July 30, 2009 - 1:25 pm 8 Comments

The person is in a higher position than mine. The bad breath is almost always there and is "death breath". It’s absolutely stifling. The person doesn’t read body language (I back off, I politely conicidentally put my hand in front of my nose, I’ve offered mints, stand up wind when outside…) I’m afraid to hurt his feelings. It’s obviously seriously chronic. Any ideas?

i suggest you stay close to him but when he begins to talk, hold your breath! but dont be obvious about it. i know someone who has very bad breath, and i actually sit directly next to this person in class! i just smile and hold my breath for a while.

Is whole-body pain one possible symptom of Sjogren’s Syndrome?

July 30, 2009 - 1:25 pm 2 Comments

I went several times to my doctor, because of chronic pain. After sitting for even a short period of time, I can barely stand and my lower back throbs… Finally my doctor did bloodwork and said I have "Sjogren’s Syndrome." This diagnosis confuses me because I do not have an overly dry mouth or eyes. In fact, I never once complained about dryness to my doctor. Can a person have Sjogren’s Syndrome when chronic body pain is the only symptom?

Sjogren’s Syndrome is an autoimmune disease. The tests to diagnose several autoimmune diseases are not terribly specific. Most likely you had a high ANA (Anti-nucleic antibody) count which indicates some sort of autoimmune process in the body. Further specific tests could indicate Sjogren’s.

Sjogren’s syndrome can be primary or secondary. Primary means it is the main thing that is wrong. Secondary means that is a sort of side effect of another illness (people with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other autoimmune diseases will often have Sjogren’s syndrome too).

It is worth speaking to your doctor about the pain you’re experiencing. Keep a journal. Note changes in the pain, duration. If you experience stiffeness in the morning (and how long), stiffness after sitting or resting, etc. Many autoimmune diseases are diagnosed based off of examination findings and patient history as opposed to blood work.

Extreme dry mouth with trazodone does it go away with time?

July 30, 2009 - 1:25 pm 1 Comment

It wasn’t too bad until my dose went up to 200mg just over 3 weeks ago, now I awake with a dry mouth in the morning. Has anyone taken this and had that side effect go?

Dry mouth is one of the most common side effects of trazodone. You can sip water or sugarless drinks often. Avoid drinks with caffeine, such as coffee, tea, and some sodas. Caffeine can dry out the mouth. Chew sugarless gum or suck on sugarless, hard candy to stimulate saliva flow; cinnamon or mint-flavored candies are good choices. Or else try dry mouth products like the one from Nuvora – http://www.nuvorainc.com/salese.html
