What’s the best way to tell a friend they have hardcore halitosis without punching their feelings in the face?

September 22, 2009 - 2:12 pm 4 Comments

Or what foods can I slip the person to temporarily improve the situation.

If this person is a true friend you should confront her/him. Believe me, offering a mint is so common that it doesn’t give a clue to the person at all. Just tell your friend this:
"Since i care about you and true friends say things as they are i have to tell you that i think you might having a problem with your breath, i don’t know if you knew but i think i needed to say that because i want what is best for you"
You can also tell this person that you are telling her/him this not only because is a "superficial" problem, but also because halitosis can be a symptom of a serious problem (like diabetes for example) and that worries you.

Does anyone have a teenage child who’s been diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome? What are the main symptoms?

September 22, 2009 - 2:12 pm 2 Comments

My 17 yr. old daughter got the diagnosis when she was 15, and we went through a horrible 6 months. I think she’s in a remission, but another doctor said she doesn’t have it? What is your experience with this disease? Symptoms? Remissions? Just anything you can tell me! I understand this is fairly rare in children, and there’s not enough data to track it in children / teenagers! I’m wondering if she really has it, or if it’s just going to burst back into her life again unexpectedly! It was total misery – she had to be on homebound school as it affected her joints so bad, she could barely walk!! Migraines, blackouts, couldn’t swallow well, no taste to food anymore, reflux, heart palpitations, paranoia, dry eyes, mouth, red patches over eyelids, ice-cold feet and legs, felt like feet were disconnected from her body, sharp shooting pains anywhere, including abdomen, blurry and 10 second losses of vision, feet went numb, memory went bad and is still not good. Much more! Help?!!

Hi, I am really sorry for your distress, I hope your daughter is doing better now. In answer to your question, Sjogren’s Synd. is a disorder where ther is destruction of the exocrine glands which will cause mucosal and conjunctival dryness. (in your eyes) To diagnose it, the doctor will need to see dry eyes, a dry mouth, and white cell infiltration in the salivary glands(seen under microscope). There are 4 different types that a person can get. It is more common in women, but in contrast to your daughter, it is commonly seen in women from the ages of 40 to 50 years old. Common symptoms, othere than the ones i have written are, enlarged parotid gland, renal problems, like, smoky colored urine, they may have breathing difficulties, and they may a variety of other symptoms due to vasculits, which can include, abnormal bruising, fever, weight loss, inability to eat, cough, hypertension, etc…and a feeling of tightness or fullness in the neck. I hope this helps you out. it’s just a brief answer to your question. Good luck!

How can I get rid of bad breath with Invisalign?

September 22, 2009 - 2:12 pm 1 Comment

I clean them with a mild soap and toothbrush, then rinse well with water in the morning. I also floss, brush, and rinse my mouth with mouthwash then. An hour later, I notice my breath gets bad again. I need to be able to fight this breath. I also can’t chew gum.

It could be your toothpaste. Try using one that has breath strips or breath beads in the paste. I personaly recommend Crest – there’s one with whiting and breath strips and one with just the breath strips. It works wonders!

Why does public health care fit the criteria to be considered an issue?

September 19, 2009 - 3:24 pm 3 Comments

I need 12 examples so a little help would be nice! Thanks so much to whoever helps. I really need it! By the way, by public health care I mean Canadian health care. So like, free health care but higher taxes.

I’m from California & I’m not sure about your question, but I’ll say some stuff I know. Half of my relatives are in Canada & although I’m poor, several of my Canadian Uncles, Cousins, etc., are doing quite well financially. Every one of them LOVE the health care in Canada & look with disgust at the USA. Health care in America is much more expensive & less available because it is a FOR PROFIT industry. Drugs are extremely overpriced & the insurance companies care about your health as much as they care about the stuff they just expelled into their toilets. They will DENY you coverage on anything. All they need to do is find an excuse to drop you, that is, when you make a claim. They’ve got the most educated lawyers who do nothing but try to save the Insurance companies money. We are the most backward "First World" country on this planet morally in regards to caring about it’s own citizens. Here is a site to look into. & there are many more on the internet. http://www.pnhp.org/facts/singlepayer_faq.php If you’re mostly concerned about Canada’s situation, keep looking on the web. I’m sure you’ll find something. And remember, insurance companies are only concerned with profit!

How can I treat chronic halitosis?

September 19, 2009 - 3:24 pm 3 Comments

I’ve tried every thing from sprays to rinses but it keeps getting worse!
I cant really perceive the odor, but I know from the reaction of others.

The best thing is to go to the dentist. You might have to get a deep cleaning because you probably have gum disease. Only the dentist can really diagnose you.

Until then, get mouthwashes without alcohol in them and keep mints around.

How to get relief from Irritable bowel Syndrome?

September 19, 2009 - 3:24 pm 4 Comments

IBS is killing me. It has made my life miserable. I suffer from chronic abdominal pain, loss of appetite, bloated, constipated too sometimes and bowel movements several times a day. I have food reactions and many times after eating my condition worsens. The symptoms of IBS restrict me from living my full life. As of now, I have hard time studying and even working on job.

I went to gastro-entrologist. He thought I had colitis and suggested colonoscopy. Colonscopy appeared normal and so did the blood test and stool test. He then diagnosed me with IBS. He first put me on a medication which resulted in an extremely dry mouth. Then he put me on bentyl.

But the medications don’t seem to work. I have made lot of food adjustment and again there is no result. What to do now?

I can’t perform my daily life activities without extreme struggle. It is making very hard for me. How to get relief?

Several people I know struggle with this. This is what one person said helps.

*One person said it took a lot of working with her diet.
Having consistent amounts of fiber made a difference.
Whole grain breads and cereals, fruits, and vegetables are good sources of fiber.
* She avoids spicy foods, romaine or iceberg lettuce,
artificial sweeteners to name a few.
*She takes calcium and Bcomplex, plus additional B12.
*Eat smaller meals more often
*Getting plenty of sleep is mandatory.
*Avoiding stress (easy to say)

*Some people are allergic to certain foods like wheat. You can try eliminating certain foods for a week and see if there is a difference. She is allergic to milk.

She agreed with the info from the site below.

"Drinking six to eight glasses of plain water a day is important, especially if you have diarrhea.

Large meals can cause cramping and diarrhea, so eating smaller meals more often, or eating smaller portions, may help IBS symptoms. Eating meals that are low in fat and high in carbohydrates such as pasta, rice, whole-grain breads and cereals (unless you have celiac disease), fruits, and vegetables may help."

Hope this helps. :)

Dry mouth all the time?? i drink and drink still dry ive drank so much i may drown my own body if i carry on?

Why is my mouth always dry any ideas?
this isnt a laughing matter and… it just went on the alcohol post it wasnt ment 4 this i am drinking water!

There could be number of causes for dry mouth like -
- The saliva glands are not working properly.
- It can be caused by taking certain medications
- Can be a side effect of disease like Sjogren’s syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, anemia, cystic fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and mumps etc.
- Nerve damage or neck injury
- Dehydration
- Excessive smoking
So check for all these from a doctor so that exact cause can be determined. Meanwhile you can try using natural dry mouth products like Salese.

What is the best way to cure my bad breath?

September 19, 2009 - 3:24 pm 31 Comments

My girlfriend is moaning at me and I think I need to do something about it.

I am only 26 and it has just started in the past few months!

Simply brushing my teeth does not work for long, maybe an hour and then my breath starts getting bad again, so I think there is a deeper problem.

Any effective methods?
Thanks, I have never even thought about brushing my tongue.

I will try that.

gargle with salt water and don’t eat starchy foods like potato chips and french fries and breads
