Oral Glutathione Supplements Don’t Work
I’m excited about what antioxidant supplements might be able to do for me and frankly, you should be, too. As the Yuppies continue to resist ageing – like we’ve resisted everything else up until now – the benefits that antioxidants offer are just too good to resist. But the problem is that the Antioxidant that most would like to supplement – namely Glutathione, can’t really be taken orally.
Tell Me About Glutathione.
Glutathione is an antioxidant that is manufactured in your body. Technically, it’s a combination of the amino acids cysteine, glycine and glutamine or glutamic acid and found in every cell of our body. That means it’s immediately available where it will be needed – one of glutathione’s many special attributes. But Glutathione is really a great deal more than that.
It’s known as the Master Antioxidant and if it wasn’t there, better known but less important antioxidants, such as Vitamins C and E which are the most abundant fat and water soluble antioxidants that we use will not function to their full potential. As well, Glutathione aids in the repair of DNA, supports the immune system and the removal of toxins from air and water pollution, along with many carcinogens and cigarette smoke. You health loves glutathione.
Increasing your serum levels of Glutathione is a good health strategy. Studies have undisputably demonstrated that some of the best known preventable diseases associated with aging, like Osteoporosis, Type II Diabetes and High Blood Pressure are easily associated with a drop in Glutathione levels.
As we exit our twenties (and could use the help!) our body produces less Glutathione. This is the reason why many well intentioned and health aware people are considering glutathione supplements. But an oral supplement is not the way to go.
The challenge is that for Glutathione to be taken into the bloodstream and be transportable to the cells in our body, it must make it through our gastro intestinal system. But in its oral form, it’s destroyed.
But there are a lot of alternatives available if you want to raise your glutathione level and one of them is through your diet. Why not choose 4-5 servings a day of the good vegetables and fruits like asparagus, spinach, broccoli and avocado. Good food will help provide your body with more of whatit needs to make its own glutathione. Other natural sources of the enriching foods to help increase your Glutathione production include Milk Thistle, Whey Protein, Selenium and Turmeric.
The second option available would be to supplement with glutathione precursors, which are products with the supplies your body needs in order to boost its own natural production to help compensate for the slow down caused by aging. MAX GXL from Max International is one product you could try.
