What can help a dog with really bad breath?

November 26, 2009 - 3:13 pm 8 Comments

my dog has really bad breath, but wont eat any type of denta bone or teeth cleaner, any other suggestions?
he is 12 years old, and my parents wont pay for a teeth cleaning at the vets unfourtunatly

Add fresh parsley to her/his food. It’s great for freshening breath and very easy to grow at home, so no need to keep going to the shop for it.

They have chew bones you can buy that help their teeth/breath. Just go to your pet store and ask for them.

They do dog toothpaste now, you just simply brush its teeth, secondly dry food is good tog et rid of tartar and annual visits to the vet. Good luck.

If he won’t take the dental bones, you can physically brush his teeth. They have dog toothpaste and toothbrushes at petstores. It might depend on the type of food he’s eating as well. If he’s eating canned, switch to a dry kibble that will help clean the teeth.
If that won’t work you can have your vet do a dental cleaning.
