What causes dry-mouth after smoking some cannabis?

March 10, 2010 - 4:36 pm 2 Comments

Like, why am I experiencing dry mouth as a result of inhaling THC into my lungs?

Recent research suggests that various compounds in cannabis actively impede the production of saliva. It’s not a sign of dehydration, simply a (mostly) harmless physiological response. Since this is due not to the heat caused by smoking cannabis, but is rather a physiological response to the compounds in marijuana, the method of ingestion doesn’t make a difference.

There’s also a long answer on the website if you want to look into it

Really dry mouth painful chest after running?

February 17, 2010 - 6:22 am 2 Comments

I have my track meets indoors in the winter and the air is so dry there that my chest, throat, and mouth are exploding with pain. Is the anything I can do before or during the race so this wont happen?

You may be dehydrated; more specifically, your lungs might be dehydrated. People tend to hydrate less in the cold winter but their physical exertion amount is the same as in winter. Increase your fluid intake and cover your nose and mouth when running outdoors. The fabric will warm the air before it enters your lungs.

My Dad’s mouth is constantly dry. Despite regular intake of liquids, also there is a slight difficulty in swallowing. I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this?

Diabetes can do this…there maybe a blood sugar test available at the chemist/drugstore.
It should be checked out, it can go on to become quite serious.

Why is my throat and mouth dry most at bed time?

February 8, 2010 - 6:20 am 2 Comments

I am drinking water but I have a very dry throat and dry mouth, what sign is this. What is my body trying to tell me? And it is the most driest during bed time. I may wake up in the middle of the night to realize that my throat is SUPER Dry. But why? What do you think this could be a sign of?

In the wintertime, when the house is closed up tight and the heat is on, it sucks the humidity out of the air. Invest in a humidifier/vaporizer to put moisture back in the air.

Also, if you are on some medications they may be drying out your mucous areas that you breathe thru. I have dry mouth, dry eyes, dry sinuses. I can hardly breathe at night. Sometimes I have to sleep sitting up.

I’m loosing all of my teeth due to my severe dry mouth. I have seen a number of doctors and have been tested for a number of different kinds of diseases that all has came back negativie. I also have been put on different kinds of medicines, mouth sprays, lozengers and nothing has helped. I’m desperate I need to save my teeth can you help me?

There are many reasons you may suffer from dry mouth;
-side effects of medication, commonly for high blood pressure, urinary incontinence, depression and allergies
-disease:Sjogrens syndrome, HIV/AIDS, diabetes and Parkinsons
-radiation therapy-saliva glands can be damaged if exposed during treatment
-chemotherapy
-nerve damage

Things you can do to help;
-sip water or sugarless drinks often
-avoid drinks with caffeine
-sugarless gum and sugarless hard candy, citrus, cinnamon and mint flavor
-no tobacco and alcohol
-avoid spicy and salty foods
-use a humidifier at night

There is a line of products I am familiar with called Biotene. Biotene has many products like gum, mouthwash, and even a saliva substitute.
Make sure you’re keeping up with your dental visits. Keep an eye on the gumline, this is where you’ll see decay starting with dry mouth.
Good luck, I hope I have educated you a little.

How do you get rid of dry mouth?

January 9, 2010 - 6:00 am 2 Comments

I just recently had turbinate reduction surgery on my nose, and am not yet at the stage where i can breathe through my nose. I woke up this morning with my lips and tongue all raw and peeling, and my throat is very tender. I have a stickyish feeling in my mouth also.

How can I get rid of this dry mouth?

Unclogging my nose isn’t an option btw.

There are products made by a company called Biotene. They are specifically for dry mouth problems. Ask your dentist about them and where you can obtain them. (He may even carry some in his office.) good luck.

When I wake up in the morning, I have a dry mouth, how can I stop this?

this is a very normal thing for most people and especially for those who breath with their mouth open while sleeping. try using one of those nose strips and it may help you do more breathing through your nose which will help keep your mouth a little more moisturized throughout the night.

why do I constantly have a dry mouth?

December 14, 2009 - 9:52 pm 6 Comments

Normally, when I have a dry mouth I just drink water and I’m fine. But during these past few months, even if I drink water my mouth is still dry. I feel like my saliva is thick. I know I’m drinking alot of water because I keep peeing, but why doesn’t my body use the water to keep my mouth moist?

Best answer I can give is the link below. There are many reasons why you could be suffering from Xerostomia and, given the information you’ve supplied, nobody here can provide anything more than pure conjecture.
