I have a sinus infection. How should I sleep so that I don’t get extreme dry mouth in the morning?

March 4, 2011 - 9:51 am 1 Comment

When I asleep I cannot breathe through my nose and I wake up with a terrible pressure headache and swollen eyes and dry mouth. I couldn’t sleep comfortably for the last 4 days and I want to heal it naturally without medicine.

Unfortunately some sinus infections can cause very serious problems if they go untreated with antibiotics. If the infection doesnt resolve itself within a week or two you may want to reconsider getting an antibiotic. I generally try to avoid the medicine mill of over the counter mystery meds myself which act as lids to boiling pots instead of the solution of turning off the heat source. As far as the headache and swollen eyes, the sinus infection could be creating apnea events in your sleep that basically means your breathing is impaired or stops long enough to lower your oxygen levels. the reduced oxygen is the source of your headache. Swollen eyes could be the result of the infection or your bodies panic response to make you breathe again during sleep. Apnea events are very hard on your body and can increase your risk of heatattach and stroke and the infection could possibly spread to your brain, ears, and eyes from your sinus’s. Find an herbal decongestant tea, perhaps a neti pot, a good quality humidifier and drink lots and lots of fluids. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

can drinking too much coffee give you a dry mouth?

February 14, 2011 - 8:06 am 3 Comments

I drink coffee twice a day. Could this make my mouth very dry. I have almost no saliva. I wake up in the morning unable to swallow. Drinking water doesn’t help. I have been prescribed gel and artificial saliva but these don’t help much and I wondered if discovering and eliminating the cause would be the best cure. Has anyone else had experience of this problem and how did they deal with it?

Yeah it can. Both he caffeine and astringent chemicals of coffee will give you dry mouth.

How do you deal with dry mouth?

My doctor recently increased my dosage of a medication I have been taking for a while. While the increase was rather mild, I have developed the side effect of dry mouth. I have never experienced this before and it’s rather awful! Sometimes I feel like I can’t even swallow without sipping water, sucking on a sugar free candy, or chewing gum – which is a little scary sometimes when none of these things are nearby. Does this usually pass as my body adjusts to the new dosage? What are some other tips for dealing with a dry mouth?
Thanks!

eat some ice. it should soothe your gums and tounge.
and if that didn’t work, try biotene.it’s very cheap and helped.me overcome my dry mouth.

How does MDMA or Methylone and other stimulants cause dry mouth? How can you prevent it from occurring at all while taking stimulants?
I didn’t ask whether or not I should. I asked what method of action stimulants perform that eventually results in dry mouth.

Hello, I’m a doctor. Use pilocarpine. I think that you want to get more info about it. Please go to —-> http://canmdh13.notlong.com/AAKfj6v

Has anyone else had a dry mouth from taking fish oil supplements?

December 22, 2010 - 10:12 pm 1 Comment

I never had this problem before, but my mouth and throat started feeling really dry when I started taking fish oil pills a month or two ago. So I’ve been drinking a lot more water. I know it’s the fish oil, because I didn’t have the dry mouth on a couple of days when I forgot to take the pills. Should I just stop taking the pills altogether?

This should niot give you a dry mouth. How is your breath? Drink with lots of water.

How to manage dry mouth during pregnancy?

December 4, 2010 - 9:20 pm 4 Comments

I am five weeks and 4 days. Dry mouth was my biggest indication that something is going on and that I am pregnant. It literally started a weeks and 4 days after the time I am pretty sure I conceived and will not go away!
I am starting to get not so nice breath and I am brushing often.

I have increased my pure water intake to ridiculous amounts and it still persists. Any ideas? I work in a call center and it is making it annoying to talk!

have you tried sucking on some hard candy? that helped me out a little.

good luck, i know how annoying it can be.

My dentist said I have a very dry mouth. How to moisturize it?

I am very worried I will get cavities from my dry mouth. It’s got to be from medications and from sleeping for long hours with my mouth open, I think. I know to get some gum and mints but is there any spray or anything that might last longer?

The best medicine is drinking a lot of water. At least 1.5 Lt / day.

How do I correct dry mouth from radiation therapy?

September 22, 2010 - 10:04 am 3 Comments

My wife had head and neck cancer (phrangeal lymphoma) in 2002. Treated with radiation therapy. Was told that saliva would return 6-8 months after therapy…it did for a while and disappeared. Have dry mouth (xerostomia) for approx. 8 months now.

Has he tried just gum. Chewing gum stimulates the salivary glands to produce saliva. That’s what I would do.
