Can a dry mouth make your temperature higher?

November 30, 2009 - 8:15 am 1 Comment

Hey there, Ive had a temperature for the last day or so and for some reason whenever I take my temperature with a dry mouth, it comes out higher than when its a wet mouth

This may be one of those chicken or egg questions. Just a little dehydration can cause you to have a degree or two of temperature elevation. And just a degree or two of temperature elevation can cause dehydration.

The simple answer is to drink an extra amount of fluids. Water is best and easiest, but any liquids will do. Another sign of slight dehydration is darker urine. If you notice that now, or at anytime, just up your fluid intake.

I hope this helps and you feel fine soon!
