Is having a dry mouth the same as bring thirsty?

October 26, 2009 - 7:17 am 6 Comments

because I’ve noticed I have a dry mouth, but I’m not necessarily dying of thirst. But I do carry a bottle of water around because a dry mouth can get annoying.

It really depends. I get dry-mouth when I am sleeping, but that is because my sinuses get so stuffed I can’t breathe so I end up breathing through my mouth. I wake up so dry sometimes I can’t even swallow.

No it’s not the same as being thirsty. When I wake up dry, I don’t want a drink, (well I have one to moisten my throat), but more like something to suck on for a while.

As always, if you are seriously concerned, please go see a medical professional…

All the best…

Cheers

In most cases it’s an indication that your body is telling you it needs water.

Many medication cause chronic dry mouth.
There are otc mouthwashes, tooth pastes and sprays to help you out with this.
    Good luck.
