why do I constantly have a dry mouth?

Normally, when I have a dry mouth I just drink water and I’m fine. But during these past few months, even if I drink water my mouth is still dry. I feel like my saliva is thick. I know I’m drinking alot of water because I keep peeing, but why doesn’t my body use the water to keep my mouth moist?
