why is there no solution to my very extreme dry mouth syndrome?
I’m loosing all of my teeth due to my severe dry mouth. I have seen a number of doctors and have been tested for a number of different kinds of diseases that all has came back negativie. I also have been put on different kinds of medicines, mouth sprays,lozengers and nothing has helped. I’m desperate I need to save my teeth can you help me?
There are many reasons you may suffer from dry mouth;
-side effects of medication, commonly for high blood pressure, urinary incontinence, depression and allergies
-disease:Sjogrens syndrome, HIV/AIDS, diabetes and Parkinsons
-radiation therapy-saliva glands can be damaged if exposed during treatment
-chemotherapy
-nerve damage
Things you can do to help;
-sip water or sugarless drinks often
-avoid drinks with caffeine
-sugarless gum and sugarless hard candy, citrus, cinnamon and mint flavor
-no tobacco and alcohol
-avoid spicy and salty foods
-use a humidifier at night
There is a line of products I am familiar with called Biotene. Biotene has many products like gum, mouthwash, and even a saliva substitute.
Make sure you’re keeping up with your dental visits. Keep an eye on the gumline, this is where you’ll see decay starting with dry mouth.
Good luck, I hope I have educated you a little.
