They just need to keep hearing from a number of people "a variety of comments" (well intended...that indicates they have a severe breath problem). "...are you feeling OK? ...your breath as an odor that you might have a severe stomach upset?" "...what did you eat last? ...your breath has an unsual strong odor...I can't identify it! (that might open a discussion to educate/teach what is necessary to resolve it). If you can find a really "hot looking" person (that they will never see again)...tooooo really make a direct sincere point about it! It might drive the point home. If it is due to poor dental hygiene/periodontal disease and/or rotten/stale cigarrette breath...they probably won't do what needs to be done... to address the etiology of the whole thing. You will just have to keep your distance. I have run across a few people over the years that are pretty pathetic "breath-wise".
