August 14, 2009 - 7:15 pm 25 Comments

The president has repeatedly claimed that his plan will lower health care costs but not decrease health care quality. This visualization looks at how the Massachusetts plan has panned out in terms of cost and wait times.

You know, I was having real issues trying to understand the whole process of this thing. No mattered where I researched it just went in one ear and out the other. All I needed was a demonstration in Legos! Thanks!

This video is missing one question. Who is healthier…..the residents of Goerga who have no health coverage…..or the lucky residents of Mass. who don’t have to die in a ditch somewhere because the rich want to keep their huge profit margins.

    Did you actually …
Did you actually read my first comment? Or did you just skim it and then reply? If you had read my entire comment you would have seen where I stated my source. “According to the World Health Organization” actually there was a typo in there where I typed ‘the” twice instead of “to” but you understand my point none the less. And if you are questioning my credability then you would be questioning your own because you used the same source in one of your comments.

    Look it up for …
Look it up for yourself. Unless you like making factless comments. Colombia is ranked 22 while the U.S. is ranked 37. I am one of the lucky few who afford healthc care in the U.S. and even I think we desperately need reform.

  9. ReginaldL Says:

    If you think …
If you think Colombia’s health care is better then ours book a ticket there for treatment. Maybe we could create a foundation to out-source our health care to these “better” countries?
Meanwhile America benefits from all that new medical technology Colombia and the WHO ranked higher 36 countries create for the world.

  10. ReginaldL Says:

    Georgia uninsured = …
Georgia uninsured = 2 million …what is your source?

Also, what is the composition of this uninsured number (those who choose not to be insured, are in between jobs, illegal aliens, etc.)

  11. whoyouare13 Says:

    Whoever thinks the …
Whoever thinks the U.S. has the best healthcare system in the world is a freakin IDIOT!!! According the the World Health Organization we are ranked 37th in the world. Canada is ranked 30. Singapore,Saudi Arabia,Isreal, Colombia, all have better healthcare than we do. The country with the best healthcare system in the world is France. We need healthcare reform in a MAJOR way!!!

(we declined as we were looking after her but had she been alone she would have need it). Nowadays -in remission she pays for no medication at all and is seen on the day she calls no matter what (as she is seen as a high risk patiente).

Again, in the Uk and in Portugal, you only pay a basic fee for any medication you need (and in Portugal everytime you see the doctor) not even close to the value of some medication.

    Portuguese and …
Portuguese and living in the UK. The most I have had to wait for an appointment with my GP was 12 hours, the following day as both me and the nurse agreed it wasen’t urgent. For minor cirurgy (wisdom tooth removal) two months -again not a priority. I would rate them as excellent. My mum got treated for breast cancer by the portuguese NHS, again, excellent level of care. During chimo she was even offerd domestic help

    wow canada sucks …
wow canada sucks for good pricing on healthcare. average pacemaker surgery costs in the US are 25k for a single chamber and 35k for a dual. so in Canada, they paid 3 times as much for a pacemaker then they did in the US. nice try astroturf, at least google some before you attempt to pass it off as legit

  20. CanadianPerspective Says:

    My Mom flew into …
My Mom flew into CANADA from USA went straight to the hospital (collapsed) Drs essed her & decided she required a pacemaker. She waited 4days for the surgery. Bed$5500/day, Pacemaker$90000 not including surgery etc.. It cost her $0, why? Because she’s Canadian! She stayed a total of 9 days in the hospital. Surgeries are prioritized on pts needs. BTW, she’s doing great.
PS: Keep an open mind and educate yourself on Universal Healthcare wikipedia is a good start!
